Saint Hyacinth

Dominican missionary of Eastern Europe — feast on August 17.

Hyacinth Odrowaz was born in Poland around 1185 and entered the Dominican order.
A disciple of Saint Dominic, he evangelized Poland, Pomerania, Russia, and other Eastern European lands.
Tradition narrates miracles on missionary journeys, including multiplication of food.
He died in Krakow in 1257. Canonized in 1594.
His liturgical feast is August 17. He is invoked for missionaries, journeys, and apostolic zeal.
