Virgin who appeared at Fatima in 1917, Mother of the Rosary and patroness of peace.
Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared six times to Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta at Cova da Iria, Portugal.
She asked for prayer, penance, and the Rosary for the conversion of sinners and peace in the world.
On October 13, about 70,000 people witnessed the so-called Miracle of the Sun.
Fatima's messages highlighted devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and reparatory prayer.
Francisco and Jacinta were canonized in 2017; Lucia, who became a religious, died in 2005.
Her liturgical feast is May 13. The Fatima shrine receives millions of pilgrims.
