Both were imprisoned during Septimius Severus's persecutions for refusing to worship Roman gods.

Perpetua's Passion account, partly written by herself, is among the earliest documents of Christian spirituality.

Felicity gave birth in prison; both were condemned to the beasts in the amphitheater.

They died on March 7, 203, proclaiming Christ to the end.

Their liturgical memorial is March 7, celebrating the courage of the African martyrs.
