Saint Zita

Faithful servant of Lucca, patron of domestic work — feast on April 27.
Saint Zita was born in Monsagrati, near Lucca, around 1218, into a poor family.
From age 12 she served as a domestic worker in the Fatinelli household in Lucca for nearly half a century.
She transformed daily labor into a path of holiness, practicing charity, prayer, and patience.
She died in 1272. Canonized in 1696, she became patroness of maids, domestic workers, and laborers.
Her liturgical feast is April 27. She is invoked for honesty, patience, and holiness in daily service.
