Saint Simon Stock was born in England in the 13th century and entered the Carmelite Order.

He became general prior of the Carmelites and promoted the order's reform and expansion in Europe.

Tradition attributes to him the Marian promise of the Brown Scapular, a symbol of devotion to Mary.

He lived prayer, poverty, and fraternal service as a path of Carmelite holiness.

His liturgical feast is May 16. He is invoked for Marian devotion, the scapular, and Christian fidelity.
