Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne

Rose Philippine Duchesne was born in France in 1769 and entered the Society of the Sacred Heart.
Sent to the United States in 1818, she founded schools and convents in Missouri and Louisiana.
She worked with indigenous peoples, especially the Potawatomi, who called her «the woman who prays always.»
She lived poverty, illness, and tireless zeal for education and evangelization.
She died in 1852. Beatified in 1940 and canonized in 1988. Her feast is November 18.
