Young Filipino martyr — feast on April 2.

Pedro Calungsod was born in the Philippines around 1654 and became a Jesuit lay catechist.
He accompanied missionaries to the Marianas Islands to evangelize the Chamorro people.
In 1672, he defended Father Diego Luis de San Vitores and was killed by hostile locals.
He was about 17 years old and exemplified youthful fidelity to the Gospel.
Beatified in 2000 and canonized by Benedict XVI in 2012. His feast is April 2.
