Saint Pantaleon
Feast day: July 27
Physician and martyr, one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, intercessor for the sick.
Pantaleon lived in Nicomedia in the fourth century, practicing medicine with great skill.
Converted to Christianity, he healed the sick without charge and gave his goods to the poor.
During Diocletian's persecution he refused to renounce the faith and was denounced.
He was martyred by beheading; he is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.
He is invoked by physicians and the sick. Liturgical feast: July 27.
