Saint Pancras was a young convert to Christianity in Rome in the early fourth century.
An orphan raised by a pagan uncle, he embraced the faith with fervor and refused to renounce Christ before Emperor Diocletian.
He was beheaded at about age 14, becoming a symbol of youthful courage in faith.
His basilica in Rome is among the oldest dedicated to an individual martyr.
His liturgical feast is May 12. He is invoked for youth, purity, and fidelity to Christ.
