Saint Macrina the Younger, virgin of Cappadocia

Macrina was born around 327 in Caesarea of Cappadocia, in a deeply Christian family.

She educated her brothers Basil, Gregory of Nyssa, and Peter, future saints and Doctors of the Church.

She founded a community of virgins at Pinaxa and lived in poverty, prayer, and service.

At Basil's death she consoled Gregory with deep faith in the resurrection.

She died on July 19, 379. Liturgical feast: July 19.
