Louis Marie Grignion was born in 1673 in Brittany, France, and was ordained a priest in 1700.
He preached popular missions throughout France, emphasizing penance, Eucharist, and devotion to Mary.
He founded the Daughters of Wisdom and the Company of Mary missionaries.
He wrote True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, a classic of Marian spirituality.
He taught total consecration to Christ through Mary, in the spirit of holy slavery of love.
He died on April 28, 1716. Canonized in 1947. His liturgical feast is April 28.
