Leopold Bogdan Mandic was born in 1866 in Croatia and entered the Capuchin order.
Despite fragile health, he devoted his life to the confessional and reconciliation of sinners.
He spent decades in Padua hearing confessions and promoting peace among Eastern European peoples.
He died in 1942. Canonized by John Paul II in 1983.
His liturgical feast is July 30. He is invoked especially in Brazil as Padre Leopoldo, for conversions and reconciliation.
