Young Mexican martyr — memorial on February 10.

Jose Luis Sanchez del Rio was born in Sahuayo, Michoacan, Mexico, in 1913.
At fourteen, he asked to serve with the Cristero forces during religious persecution in the 1920s.
Captured and tortured, he refused to renounce his faith, crying «Viva Cristo Rey!» before being killed in 1928.
Beatified in 2005 and canonized in 2016 among the Cristero martyrs of Mexico.
His liturgical memorial is February 10. He is invoked for youth, students, and steadfastness in faith.
