Saint John Bosco

Founder of the Salesians, father and teacher of poor and abandoned youth.
John Bosco was born in 1815 in Piedmont, Italy, raised by a devout mother after his father's early death.
From youth he felt a priestly vocation and dedication to poor boys on the outskirts of Turin.
He founded the Salesian Society in 1859 and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, creating schools, workshops, and oratories.
His educational method — reason, religion, and loving-kindness — combined human formation, catechesis, and Christian joy.
He entrusted everything to Mary Help of Christians, with the motto 'Give me souls, and take the rest.'
He died on January 31, 1888. Canonized in 1934. His liturgical feast is January 31.
