Saint Christopher

Legendary martyr, invoked as protector of travelers and motorists.
Saint Christopher is one of the most popular saints in Christendom, venerated since late antiquity as protector of those who travel.
Legend tells of a man of great stature who sought to serve the most powerful king and finally found Christ as the true Lord.
He began carrying pilgrims across a dangerous river. One night he bore a child who grew ever heavier — it was Christ himself carrying the weight of the world.
Converted and faithful, he suffered martyrdom for defending the Christian faith. His image with the Christ Child on his shoulders became a universal symbol of travelers.
Though his feast left the universal Roman calendar in 1969, popular devotion remains strong, especially among drivers and truckers.
He is invoked before journeys, on July 25 (traditional feast day), and in medals and images placed in vehicles.
