Saint Bridget of Sweden, religious and mystic

Bridget was born in 1303 in Finsta, Sweden, into a deeply Christian noble family.

She married and had eight children; after her husband's death she consecrated herself fully to God.

She founded the Vadstena Abbey and the Order of the Most Holy Savior — the Bridgettines.

She received revelations on Christ's Passion and Church reform; she pilgrimaged to Rome.

She died on July 23, 1373. Canonized in 1391. Co-patron of Europe. Feast: July 23.
