Saint Bernardino Realino

Italian Jesuit, converted lawyer, devoted confessor and pastor of souls.

Bernardino Realino was born on December 1, 1530, in Carpi, Italy.
He studied law and practiced as an attorney before a deep conversion led him to the Society of Jesus.
Ordained a priest, he devoted himself to confession, preaching, and care of the poor in Lecce.
He was known for patience in the confessional and a life of quiet prayer.
He died on July 2, 1616. Beatified in 1896 and canonized in 1947. Liturgical feast: July 2.
