Chinese martyr, converted soldier, witness to the Catholic faith in China.

Augustine Zhao Rong lived in the eighteenth century in Sichuan province, China.
He was a soldier and guard of a Christian official before converting and being ordained a priest.
He exercised ministry courageously during times of persecution of the Church in China.
He was arrested, tortured, and condemned to death for fidelity to Christ and the Pope.
Canonized among the 120 Martyrs of China by John Paul II in 2000. Liturgical feast: July 9.
