Queen of the Rosary venerated at the Pompeii shrine, Italy — patroness of family peace.
Devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii arose in the nineteenth century when Blessed Bartolo Longo, a converted former occultist, restored a ruined chapel in Pompeii.
In 1875 he consecrated the shrine to the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, promoting the Rosary as a path of conversion and family peace.
The shrine became one of Italy's most visited, with millions of pilgrims seeking reconciliation and graces through Mary's intercession.
Bartolo Longo also founded the Daughters of the Rosary of Pompeii and spread the May novena worldwide.
Pope John Paul II beatified Bartolo Longo in 1980, recognizing his Marian evangelization work.
The shrine's liturgical feast is May 8; the Church celebrates Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7.
