Devotion to the Holy Family contemplates Jesus, Mary, and Joseph united in Nazareth, living faith, work, and obedience to God.
Joseph, the just carpenter, protected and supported the Child Jesus and the Virgin Mary through honest labor and silent surrender.
Mary welcomed the Son of God with purity and docility, raising him in the law and traditions of Israel.
Jesus grew in wisdom, grace, and stature before God and others, sanctifying domestic life.
The Church proposes the Holy Family as a model for Christian homes, inviting parents and children to charity and prayer.
The liturgical feast is celebrated on the Sunday within the Octave of Christmas or on December 30 when no Sunday falls in the octave.
