Supplication for the souls of the departed, asking God for eternal rest and perpetual light.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.
O God, who by Your only-begotten Son redeemed us from death and granted us life everlasting, look with mercy on those who have departed this life, especially (name of the person).
Grant them eternal rest, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
When to pray
At funerals, memorial Masses, in November (All Souls), on anniversaries of death, or whenever we lovingly remember those who have gone before us.
